The only thing worse than ‘No answerability’ is ‘Diffuse Answerability’
In the current scenario- Political Party (-ies) have almost completely replaced Individual representative democracy. So my argument will be limited to the answerability of Political Parties for all their actions and inactions!
Democracy can be defined in a number of ways, but the common vein to all such definitions is- An answerable Government.
That’s great. But may someone please point at the Party that I, as the citizen of India must direct my question to?
There are more such parties than you can possibly count, least of all remember or know their agendas and certainly, keeping a tab on their performance or electoral promises is an impossible task.
Where does that leave ‘answerability’?
Where does that leave ‘Democracy’?

An opposing view could be that having multiple political parties represent the spirit of Federalism?
I certainly agree to this line of argument. And I am also alive to the Supreme Court’s interpretation of the Basic structure of the Constitution in the Kesavananda Bharati verdict including Federalism as a part of the Basic structure of our constitution!
The question that begs an answer is- Isn’t Democracy ALSO a part of the Basic structure of our constitution?

A limited. (should be specified ) party system should be above in the list of preference then the 2 party system will be just alike our constitution rigid and flexible at the same time.
